{module_photogallery,37076} We are delighted to share the fantastic news that all 10 of our Year 14 students have obtained a gold medal in their Pope John Paul II award. Despite lockdown making it difficult to continue with the award as normal, our students demonstrated great resilience and initiative and continued to help out in their local communities and parishes. Some of their voluntary activities included; – delivering shopping to elderly neighbours who were isolating, – litter picking in their local communities – and attending religious services online. These pupils have worked for the past year by volunteering in local churches, the school and within their local community with a strong focus on social justice and faith development. Ten Year 14 students have achieved Gold in the John Paul II awards. Rebekah Dunbar Caitlin Kelly Joshua Fleming Sarah McLaughlin Sasha Tannahill Molly McKenna Claudia Daly Chloe Glasgow Ella Hasson Naomi Burrows Mrs McLernon, our Head of Religious Studies, passed on her sincere congratulations to the JP II students for bringing light and joy to their communities in these dark days, “Congratulations to all our Dominican College JPII participants and to Mrs Willighan and Mrs Dallat for all their hard work. It was also a year where such charitable acts were more necessary than ever.” To commemorate their fabulous achievements in a safe, socially distanced way, the Pope John Paul II award ceremony will be available to watch from 6.00 pm on Tuesday 1st December 2020.
