Well done to Mia, our very talented Head Girl who has just learned that she has been shortlisted for the HG Wells Short Story Competition and the award of the Margaret and Reg Turnhill Prize. Mya, an A Level English Literature is an avid reader and has been writing creatively for many years. Her shortlisting reflects her superb talents as a writer and we wish her every success as a school. The theme of this year’s competition was “Mask” and Mia’s story was entitled “The Collector’s Shop”.
The Winner of the competition will be announced on the 21st November 2021 and, following the announcement, Mia and 8 other authors are going to be published in a short anthology later this year. We hope to be able to publish this story later in the Year.
Congratulations also to Kirsten in Year 12 who is a member of the Bann Rowing U-18 Squad who were crowned Irish Champions recently in Cork. Kirsten has been rowing with the club for several years and we are all delighted in Dominican by her success.
Many congratulations also to Rebecca, one of our Year 11 students. Rebecca recently travelled to Wolverhampton to compete in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships where she performed superbly coming home with a second place overall in her category.
Very well done to all three girls on behalf of everyone in DCP.
