DCP September News Round-Up
September has been a busy and exciting month at Dominican College, with the new academic year beginning and our community coming together for learning, faith, fundraising, and success both inside and outside the classroom. Here are some of the highlights from September 2025:
Welcome Back & Induction
We were delighted to welcome all pupils and staff back after the summer holidays. A particularly warm welcome goes to our new Year 8 pupils, who joined the Dominican community this month. Induction activities helped them settle in quickly, make new friends, and meet key staff. We are very proud of how they have embraced life at DCP.
New Staff
We also extend a warm welcome to the new staff members who have joined us this year. Their talents and dedication will enrich our school community, and we are excited for the expertise they bring to DCP.
CASH FOR KIDS Schools Challenge Fundraiser
Our school has once again taken part in the Cash for Kids Schools Challenge, with pupils and staff working hard to raise funds through creative events and activities. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far—your efforts make a real difference to children and families in need.
European Day of Languages
On 26th September, DCP celebrated the European Day of Languages with a range of fun activities across departments, highlighting the importance of languages and cultural diversity. Pupils explored new words, enjoyed themed lessons, and celebrated the many languages spoken within our community.
Year 8 Welcome Mass
To mark the beginning of their journey at Dominican College, our Year 8 pupils gathered for a Welcome Mass. This was a special opportunity for pupils, families, and staff to come together in prayer and blessing as our newest year group begins their time at DCP.
MacMillan Coffee Morning
The annual MacMillan Coffee Morning was once again a great success, with staff, parents, and pupils joining forces to raise vital funds for cancer support services. Thank you to all who baked, donated, and supported this event.
Sporting Success
Our Under-14 Football Team has made a fantastic start to the season, with impressive league victories against Ballymoney and St Pat’s Maghera. The team’s commitment, skill, and teamwork have been outstanding—well done, boys!
Beach Walk 2025 – Whole School Charity Fundraiser
One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Annual Beach Walk, took place at Portstewart Strand. The whole school came together to raise funds for four important causes:
-
The Brain Tumour Charity
-
MacMillan Cancer Support
-
UNICEF Gaza Appeal for Children
-
Dominican College, Myanmar
The day was filled with energy, community spirit, and generosity. A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported the walk.
Parent Information Evenings
Throughout September, we welcomed parents of all year groups into school for Parent Information Evenings. These evenings gave families the chance to meet key staff, hear important updates, and strengthen the vital partnership between home and school.
Looking Ahead
With such a strong and positive start to the academic year, we look forward to more exciting opportunities, achievements, and community events in the months ahead. Thank you to all pupils, staff, and families for your continued support and enthusiasm.
