Dominican College Portstewart – April 2026 Round-Up

April has been an incredibly busy and successful month for the entire school community at Dominican College Portstewart, with achievements across inspection, sport, enrichment, and the arts.

ETI Inspection Success

We were delighted to receive very positive feedback following our recent visit from the Education and Training Inspectorate. The inspection highlighted the strong sense of community within the college, the dedication of our staff, and the high quality of learning experiences provided to our pupils.

This outcome is a reflection of the hard work and commitment shown daily by our students, staff, and wider school community, and we look forward to continuing to build on this success.

Footballing Achievements

April proved to be a fantastic month for football, with a wide range of our teams enjoying success in competitive fixtures and tournaments. From school teams to pupils representing clubs outside of school, our students demonstrated excellent skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by all involved and the way our pupils continue to represent the college so positively both on and off the pitch.

Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition

A huge congratulations to our Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award group who successfully completed their expedition in the stunning Mourne Mountains.

This challenging hike tested their resilience, teamwork, and determination, and all participants rose to the occasion superbly. Completing the Gold expedition is a significant achievement and one that reflects months of preparation and commitment.

Rugby Recognition

Our rugby programme continues to thrive, with individual pupils receiving prestigious recognition:

  • Abby Connolly has been named as one of the Queen’s University Belfast Future Stars
  • Luke McMullan has earned selection for the Ulster Rugby Development Squad

These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of both players, and we look forward to following their continued progress.

Success in the Arts

We are also incredibly proud of Freja Thorpe, who has been selected to join the National Youth Theatre.

This is a fantastic achievement and recognises Freja’s creativity, commitment, and talent within the performing arts. We wish her every success in this exciting opportunity.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the final months of the academic year, we are excited to build on the momentum of April and continue celebrating the wide-ranging achievements of our pupils.

Well done to everyone involved in making this such a positive and successful month for Dominican College Portstewart.
