Dominican College Portstewart Celebrates Another Year of GCSE Success in 2026 
Dominican College Portstewart is celebrating another year of excellent GCSE results as pupils received their grades today. The College community has once again come together to recognise the hard work, resilience and dedication of its young people, supported every step of the way by their families and teachers.
This year’s GCSE outcomes reflect both academic achievement and personal determination, with an outstanding 95% of pupils achieving five or more GCSE grades at A*–C. The results continue the College’s long-standing tradition of excellence and provide a strong foundation for pupils as they move forward to the next stage of their educational journey.
Principal, Mrs Ruth Oliver, praised the achievements of the Year 12 cohort:
“Today is a day of celebration for our pupils, their families and our staff. These excellent results are a testament to the commitment, perseverance and resilience shown by our young people throughout their GCSE studies. We are immensely proud of all they have achieved and of the way they have embraced every aspect of College life.
At Dominican College, we believe in nurturing the talents and potential of every pupil. These results reflect not only academic success but also the values of responsibility, respect, kindness and determination that underpin all we do. I congratulate every pupil on their achievements and thank our staff and parents for the vital role they have played in supporting them.”
Achievement Across a Broad Curriculum 
Pupils performed strongly across a wide range of subjects, highlighting the strength and breadth of the curriculum on offer at Dominican College. These achievements reflect the commitment of pupils and staff and demonstrate the high expectations that continue to characterise teaching and learning throughout the College.
The success of this year’s cohort also extends beyond examination results. Many pupils have made significant contributions to the life of the school through sport, music, drama, leadership and community service, demonstrating the Dominican commitment to developing confident, compassionate and well-rounded young people.
Strong Progress in Year 11 Modules 
Alongside today’s GCSE achievements, Dominican College also highlighted the excellent outcomes achieved by current Year 11 students in their first set of modular examinations. Many pupils recorded strong grades across all subjects, laying down a strong foundation for their final year of study.
Mrs Oliver commented on the promise shown by this younger group:
“We are delighted with the solid foundation Year 11 students have built. Their strong module results provide a very positive starting point for Year 12 and give us every confidence that they will achieve outstanding final grades.”
Looking Ahead 
For our Year 12 pupils, these results mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter as they progress into Sixth Form at Dominican College. Others will pursue alternative educational and vocational pathways, equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to succeed in the future.
Mrs Oliver added:
“These results open doors to exciting opportunities, whether that be continuing into Sixth Form, pursuing vocational qualifications or exploring other pathways. We look forward to supporting our pupils as they continue their educational journey and remain confident that they will go on to achieve great things.”
