December News Round-Up – Dominican College Portstewart
As we draw to the close of a busy and rewarding term, December has been filled with celebration, generosity and outstanding achievement across Dominican College Portstewart.
Christmas Carol Service – 17th December
Our school community came together on 17th December for the annual Christmas Carol Service, a beautiful and reflective occasion that truly captured the spirit of the season. Students contributed through music, readings and prayer, showcasing their talents while reminding us all of the meaning of Christmas. The service provided a fitting end to the term and an opportunity for quiet reflection before the festive break.
Christmas Hamper Collections
Students once again demonstrated incredible generosity through our Christmas Hamper collections. Classes worked together to bring in donations and create hampers for a range of local charities, helping to support families and individuals in our wider community during the festive period. This initiative highlighted the strong sense of compassion and social responsibility that exists within our school.
Sixth Form Santa Splash
Our Sixth Form students embraced festive fun with enthusiasm as Year 13 and 14 students braved the chilly waters of Portstewart Strand for the annual Santa Splash. Dressed in festive attire, the students showed great spirit, resilience and good humour, making the event a memorable experience for all involved.
Sporting Success
December has also been a month of outstanding sporting achievements. Our U18 GAA Boys team has once again reached the final of the Nolan Cup, marking an impressive third consecutive year in the final.
Volleyball continues to go from strength to strength, with excellent performances across recent fixtures and competitions, including notable success in the U16 NIVA League.
Meanwhile, netball teams have continued their strong run of form, consistently delivering successful performances and representing the school with pride.
As we head into the Christmas holidays, we celebrate the hard work, talent and generosity of our students and staff. We wish our entire school community a joyful Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year.
