ARTS FESTIVAL 2023
The Arts have always been an important aspect of Dominican life and we would like to take an opportunity to promote this important aspect of our school. For the first time in our history and building on the legacy of The Drama Festival, at the end of June this year we will host our first ever Arts Festival.
The 2023 Arts Festival will be a celebration of the immense artistic talent that is alive in Dominican. It will be an opportunity to share our wealth of talent with the local community and demonstrate how the Arts are a strong pillar of our school. We will also use this Festival as an opportunity to connect with past pupils and friends of the school and to welcome them back to our Dominican family.
The 2023 Arts Festival will be a three day event, encompassing Drama, Music and Art. Pupils will actively engage in at least one of the disciplines. The three-day event is planned as follows:
Monday 26th June 2023
DCP Art Competition
All day – Form Class competition – Form Teachers will support their Form Classes and each Form Class will create a sculpture based on a theme using recycled/ing materials
Winners’ presentation – 2:30pm
Tuesday 27th June 2023
DCP’s Got Talent
Year 8 and 9 – Final – 9:30am to 11:10am – Winner presentation – 11:30am to 12:05pm
Year 10 and 11 – Final 1pm to 2:30pm – Winner presentation – 2:30pm to 3pm
Wednesday 28th June 2023
DCP Drama Festival
Year 8 – 10am to 11am
Year 9 – 11:30am to 12:30am
Year 10 – 1:15pm to 2:15pm
Year 8-11 – Hall – Adjudication 2:15pm to 2:30pm – Performances from DCPs Got Talent
2:30pm to 3pm – Drama Festival Award Ceremony

Tuesday 27th June 2023 – DCP’s Got Talent – World renowned choreographer and long-time friend of Dominican, Jack Murphy.
Wednesday 28th June 2023 – Drama Festival – Lead actor in Blue Lights, past pupil, Hanna McLean
Assistants
Year 12 and 13 volunteers and those doing their Dominican Award will also help with the running of these events to help extend the Arts Festival to all years of the school community.
