January has been a busy and celebratory month at Dominican College Portstewart, with a wide range of achievements and events reflecting the strong sense of community, excellence, and opportunity that defines life at the College.

Open Morning 2026 – A Resounding Success
Our Open Morning on Saturday 17th January was a tremendous success, welcoming over 900 Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils and their parents to experience education done the Dominican Way. Visitors explored the school, met staff and students, and gained a real insight into the academic, pastoral, and extra-curricular opportunities on offer at Dominican College Portstewart.

Girls’ Camogie Intercounty Success
Congratulations to our Girls’ Camogie team, who were crowned Intercounty Shield Champions following an excellent victory over Buncrana Schools. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the players’ dedication, teamwork, and commitment, as well as the continued strength of girls’ sport within the College.

Catholic Schools Week
We proudly celebrated Catholic Schools Week, taking time to reflect on our shared values, faith, and Dominican ethos. A range of activities and moments of reflection highlighted the importance of community, service, and care for others within school life.

Appointment of Year 10 Junior Prefects
We were delighted to appoint our new Junior Prefects from Year 10. These pupils have demonstrated responsibility, leadership potential, and a positive attitude towards school life, and we look forward to seeing them grow in their roles over the coming year.

Irish Exam Success – Cúpla Focal Fáinne
Congratulations to our Year 9 pupils who successfully completed their Cúpla Focal Fáinne. This achievement reflects their enthusiasm for Irish language learning and their commitment to developing linguistic and cultural skills.
