October & November Round-Up at Dominican College Portstewart
As we move toward the end of the autumn term, we’re delighted to look back on a vibrant and memorable October and November at Dominican College Portstewart. From incredible fundraising success to sporting achievements, academic celebrations, and whole-school events, our community has been busy, enthusiastic, and full of spirit. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.
Cash for Kids Fundraising Challenge – Over £30,000 Raised!
One of the standout moments this term was our amazing contribution to the Cash 4 Kids Fundraising Challenge. Dominican College Portstewart placed 2nd overall, an outstanding achievement for our pupils, staff, and families.
Through an exciting variety of activities – from lively bingo nights and fun-filled quizzes to the ever-popular bun sales – our school community came together in true DCP fashion. Thanks to everyone’s dedication and generosity, we raised almost £30,000, making a meaningful difference to local children in need. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork and energy that drove this success.
Sporting Success Across the Board
Our sports teams have had a brilliant start to their seasons, with football, netball, and GAA teams continuing to progress impressively in their leagues and competitions.

The Ladies’ GAA team have secured their place in the final for the second consecutive year, showcasing determination, skill, and excellent teamwork.

Our U14 boys’ football team is also celebrating success, having powered their way into the semi-finals of their competition.
-
Across football and netball teams, pupils have shown great commitment and improvement, with strong performances and admirable sportsmanship throughout the term.
We look forward to cheering them on in the weeks ahead!
Halloween Festivities
October wouldn’t be complete without the excitement of Halloween, and DCP certainly embraced the spirit! Pupils enjoyed a range of spooky-themed activities, fancy dress fun, and of course the much-anticipated Halloween discos. The creativity and enthusiasm on display made it a memorable celebration for all.
Maths Week – A Celebration of Problem Solving
Maths Week brought a fantastic buzz to the school, especially with our vibrant KS3 Maths Fair. Pupils explored puzzles, challenges, games, and interactive stations designed to highlight the fun and creativity that mathematics offers. The event showcased not just mathematical skills, but teamwork, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Languages Week – A Global Celebration
We also enjoyed another successful Languages Week, filled with activities celebrating the richness and diversity of world languages. Marking the European Day of Languages, pupils engaged in cultural quizzes, language tasters, creative competitions, and fun classroom challenges. It was a wonderful opportunity to broaden horizons and appreciate the beauty of multilingualism.
Year 13 Work Experience Week
November brought an important milestone for our sixth form pupils with Year 13 Work Experience Week. Students enjoyed placements across a wide range of industries and professions, gaining valuable insights into future pathways. Feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our pupils’ maturity, enthusiasm, and professionalism. It was an invaluable week that will undoubtedly influence future career choices and aspirations.
Looking Ahead
As we move closer to the festive season, we’re excited for what the next weeks will bring. Well done to all our pupils for their hard work, dedication, and school spirit throughout October and November. Dominican College Portstewart continues to thrive thanks to the commitment of our students, staff, and families—and we look forward to sharing more successes soon.
