HOPE Independent School Counselling and Therapy Service
Counselling in schools can make an important contribution to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of young people. Pupils experiencing stress or emotional problems find it difficult to reach their potential. A ‘listening ear’ can sometimes make a great difference.
Students who attend Dominican College can gain support and help from our trained professional counsellor, Jean, to work through issues they face.
EA HOPE Service with ASCERT provides this school counselling service for our students one day a week each Wednesday.
Students can make a referral to the school counselling service by:
- Speaking to or emailing the key contact, Mrs Heaney, Vice Principal.
- Asking a teacher or parent to make a referral for you.
Pupils can self-refer by filling in an online form on the Ascert website: https://www.ascert.biz/project/school-counselling/
Referrals for counselling/therapy sessions can be made by pupils, parents/carers or school staff. Further information is available on the Education Authority website at School Counselling and Therapy (Hope Service)
